Welcome from Steve, Karen & Sabroc Photography

We are Steve Rawlins & Karen Tilling & together form Sabroc Photography which is run as a hobby by us both.

We have been lucky enough to travel to Africa on many occasions, exploring various Wildlife Nature Park & Reserves. Photography has always been of great interest to us hopefully this comes across in our pictures.

We are in regular contact with artists that wish to use our Photo's for use in their projects and our pictures have also been previously shortlisted in BBC & National Geographic Photography Competitions.

In recent years we have combined our love of animals and photography and our main subject is now within the Canine World. Not just our dogs but also those of friends and at dog shows and events.

In 2007 after the loss of our beloved Barney, we decided that it was time to bring in a puppy and along came Ruby, despite her constant flow of energy and her simply being the 'puppy that would never sleep' we added to our pack in Feb 2008 & Bracken came to live with us. Bracken is Ruby's mum and came to us due to 'fighting' between bitches in the breeders house. Unfortunately we were not given the full story of Bracken's background & for a long period of time we had to work extremely hard to adjust her anxiousness and behaviour to a suitable level.

Thankfully, Karen is a dog trainer, working part time at Barking Mad Dog Training School in North Hertfordshire (see our links page) and this knowledge and level of training proved invaluable to us and allowed us to achieve our goals.

In October 2008 Obi joined us, he came over from Ireland as a rescue and unfortunately he had spent nearly all his life outside in a yard, often tied up. He had never been on a lead or even in a house so despite everything seeming a little strange at first, he soon got used to life's comforts and is making up for lost time!

Our 3 German Shepherds also live along side 'the boys' - our 2 loopy Bengal Cats Chui & Safi and along with the dogs they ensure there is never a quiet moment in our house!

This gives us great choice in terms of photography subjects and we frequently travel with our dogs - from dog shows and group walks to cottage holidays all across the UK.

2009 was a somewhat difficult year for us, not long after being told that Bracken (& therefore Ruby) had the condition of epilepsy in her breeding lines, Bracken was diagnosed
with Addisons disease in March (please see our Bracken's Story page).

On the rare ocassion that we find spare time, we both carry out regular Charity work for various dog charities and we find this most rewarding. In 2009 we also organised a local dog show Barking Mayhem and along with a close friend Lorraine Gibbons we raised nearly £4,000 for canine charities and the show attracted over 1,500 people. Although planned initially as a one-off we are currently planning a 2010 show and aim to make it bigger and better!

We wish all our friends a successful 2010 and would like to thanks those that have shown support to us during 2009!

Kind Regards

Steve & Karen
